Gainesville Police arrested a local man Saturday morning for reportedly sexually assaulting a co-worker at her apartment.

At about 4 a.m., Leroyea Shakar Harold Simmons-Jackson, 22, was in bed with his co-worker in her apartment at a complex located on Southwest 23rd Terrace, according to a police report.

Simmons-Jackson, identified as a bouncer in the report, began to rub and digitally penetrate the woman with her consent. The woman told police she warned Simmons-Jackson she was not going to have sex with him, but he kept pushing. He told the woman, “Whatever you tell me to do I’m going to do the opposite,” according to the report. Simmons-Jackson then raped her.

The woman identified Simmons-Jackson from a Facebook photo.

Simmons-Jackson told police the woman said she didn’t want to have sex with him, but she was “gyrating and moving her body against his in a manner that he felt implied that she did want to have sex with him.”

Police arrested him just before 10 a.m. on a sexual battery charge, according to the report.

Police took Simmons-Jackson to the Alachua County Jail, where he remained as of press time in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
