Florida offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence was named to the Associated Press All-America First Team Monday, adding to his postseason awards run.
Torrence is the fourth Florida offensive lineman to ever receive the award. The last time the Gators saw this position earn AP All-America First Team recognition was when Mike Pearson was named to the team in 2001. Jason Odom, 1995, and Lomas Brown, 1984, are the only other Florida offensive line recipients of the title.
This is the latest of a flurry of awards for the future potential first round pick.
Torrence earned a spot on the Football Writers Association of America All-American Second Team Dec. 9. He was named a Walter Camp First Team All-American Dec. 8. The honors helped Torrence become the first Gator to earn a brick outside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium since Kyle Pitts in 2020.
Torrence’s play in the trenches helped the Gators average 213.7 rushing yards per game — the 15th highest mark in the country — and 29 rushing touchdowns throughout the 2022 season. Florida allowed only 12 sacks, which was the 11th fewest in the country.
He now turns his sights to the 2023 NFL Draft where he is expected to be drafted in the first round. Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports projected Torrence will be drafted 17th overall by the Seattle Seahawks.
Torrence will forgo the Gators’ bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft. Florida will play Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl Dec. 17. The Gators’s final game of the season is set for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on ESPN.
