A UF administrator was trespassed from all UF properties for three years on charges of battery after police received a complaint of a fight at a RaceTrac in Citrus County.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrested Casey Griffith, 43, who worked in the Office of Undergraduate Affairs, on a misdemeanor battery charge.
The person who called in the complaint told a deputy at the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office that Griffith was tailgating them while they were driving a golf cart ahead of him. Griffith then yelled, “get the f*ck out of my way,” according to the person in the golf cart.
Police wrote that when both arrived at the RaceTrac gas pump, Griffith tried to take the key out of the golf cart and pulled the person inside by their collar, throwing them onto the ground. The golf cart’s owner punched Griffith as they were being pulled out of the cart. Griffith then punched them when they got up from the ground.
Griffith is no longer employed at the university, said UF Spokesperson Steve Orlando.
He was held in Alachua County jail April 5, the day the trespass warning was issued. He was no longer in jail the next day. His bond was listed at $1,000, according to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office.
Griffith attended the university and played football for the Gators from 2002 to 2004. He was paid $83,544 in 2023 as the assistant director of curriculum and academic policy, which operates under the provost’s office.
He also had a misdemeanor assault charge in 2002, but the case was dropped soon after being filed.
