Authorities are still searching for the man responsible for killing a 14-year-old Micanopy girl in a hit-and-run accident last Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Hannah Brown was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. She was struck and killed by a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of County Road 346 while walking with two other teenagers.

Madison Bass, 14, and Michael Germond, 13, were also walking with Brown at the time of the incident, the release said.

Bass was transported to UF Health at Shands Hospital with critical injuries, the release said. Germond was not hurt in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle briefly stopped and stepped out of his car before fleeing the scene of the crash, authorities said.

He is described as a white male in his 30s with dirty blonde hair. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans at the time of the crash, the release said.

His vehicle is described as an older model pickup truck, possibly a gray 1996 Ford Truck or Bronco. Authorities believe the vehicle would be missing part of the front grill and the entire left side mirror.

A candlelight service has been organized via Facebook at the Micanopy Gazebo on Thursday at 6 p.m., said Matt Surrency, the mayor of neighboring Hawthorne, Florida.

Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 386-754-6281 or 1-800-387-1290.
