UF Web services may have caused headaches for students who attempted to add or drop classes Wednesday.

ISIS, e-Learning in Sakai, Gatorlink Webmail, Outlook Web Access for UF Exchange and Campus SMTP services experienced an outage at about noon Wednesday.

The equipment and systems powering the university’s Web presence was still down Thursday morning, communications manager for UF Information Technology Tracy Gale wrote in an email.

“The staff at [Computing & Networking Services] was able to get the systems up and running again, but then we experienced broader system issues this morning,” Gale said.

CNS resolved the service outages by 1:37 p.m. Thursday.

Gale could not comment on how the outage would impact drop/add week for students.

“It’s funny that UF has both a great computer science department and terrible, buggy, ugly Web services,” said 18-year-old computer science sophomore Christa Wimberley.
