Gators can get psychedelic this weekend at a Woodstock-inspired concert.

“The Summer of Love Concert” will be stopping at the Phillips Center for Performing Arts on Saturday to celebrate and share the music of the ‘60s with Gainesville residents and students.

Tickets for students are $10 and are available on the UF Performing Arts website. Regular balcony tickets are $20.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will recreate songs from popular classic rock bands including The Beatles, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Doors and Janis Joplin.

Tony Pallagrosi, manager of UMT Presents Events and Concerts, said the concert will also feature Marc Rubinstein’s Pig Light Show.

The show is known as one of the most famous light shows in rock history for its use in the late 1960s.

“You’re going to feel the vibe,” said Pallagrosi. “You’re going to feel the spirit of the period.”

Carolina De La Rosa, a 19-year-old UF health science sophomore, said she is looking forward to the twists that “The Summer of Love Concert” will put into the classics.

“The ‘60s was a time of change and exploring new things,” De La Rosa said. “With that sort of mentality, I think people can reminisce and enjoy something they love, even if it is a little different.”
