CNN special correspondent to speak in September

CNN special correspondent Soledad O'Brien will take a break from covering national topics to speak to UF students Sept. 11.

O'Brien's speech is planned for 8 p.m. at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the event is free and open to the public, according to an Accent news release.

O'Brien is a former co-anchor of CNN's "American Morning" and is now an anchor and special correspondent for CNN's Special Investigations Unit.

Andrew S. Guglielmo, chairman of Accent Speaker's Bureau, said O'Brien's appearance will cost $35,000.

The event will be co-sponsored by Accent and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Guglielmo said O'Brien was selected because of the challenges she has overcome working as a multicultural woman and the experiences she's had working as a CNN correspondent.
