The Inter-Residence Hall Association will be sponsoring the ninth annual Writing on the Wall Project to help break through social, ethnic and religious boundaries within our society.
Anyone who has been affected by derogatory statements will have the opportunity to express their emotions throughout the week of the project.
Participants can paint and design bricks that will contribute to the wall of negative slurs.
Those who wish to partake in the project can receive their bricks today and Friday on the Plaza of the Americas. The wall will be built Sunday.
Micayla Mancuso, a UF sophomore, noticed the wall for the first time last year.
“When I saw students gathered around the wall, I thought it was very inspiring to see people standing up against those who have harmed them in the past.”
The Gainesville community is encouraged to come together on Jan. 28 for the closing ceremony, which will begin at 12:15 p.m.
