The No. 17 Florida women’s swimming and diving team is in Columbus, Ohio, this week for the NCAA Championships.
The team has sent eight swimmers and one diver to the pool at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Ohio State's campus. Competition starts Wednesday and runs through Saturday.
The swimmers competing recorded A-cut times in their respective events. They were also offered an additional event where they recorded B-cut times throughout the season. The A- and B-cut times are marks set before the season by the NCAA as benchmarks for swimmers to qualify for the event. The swimmers competing are freshman Taylor Ault in the 1650-yard freestyle, sophomores Emma Ball and Sherridon Dressel in the 100-yard backstroke, junior Hannah Burns and sophomores Savanna Faulconer and Kelly Fertel qualified to swim in the 400-yard IM, senior Amelia Maughan is swimming in the 200-yard freestyle and junior Sydney Sell is competing in the 200-yard backstroke.
The lone Gators diver, Brooke Madden, qualified for the event at last week’s NCAA Diving Zones and is eligible to compete in all three diving events.
The women’s squad will also be competing in the 800-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays, along with the 200-yard medley relay races.
