A family feud ended with a Gainesville couple arrested after shattering a car window with a baseball bat Saturday morning, deputies said.
Kevin Peres, 20, and his girlfriend, April Gannon, 21, were accused of threatening Peres’ family, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
Peres texted a relative about money she owed him at about 10 a.m. The relative tried to drive away from her home, on the 7000 block of Southwest 122nd Street, but Peres and Gannon blocked her car with theirs, deputies said.
Peres argued with the relative before breaking both side mirrors and shattering a backseat window with a bat. Broken glass fell into the car with a relative in the driver’s seat and her 2-year-old child next to her, deputies said.
Gannon tried to hit the relative through the broken window, the report said.
When Peres’ father tried to stop the argument, Peres put his hands up as if to hit him. His father punched him in the face, the report said.
Gannon hit Peres’ father, cutting him above his left eye, deputies said.
Peres is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief and cruelty toward a child. Gannon is charged with aggravated battery and burglary for reaching into the car.
Peres and Gannon are being held in the Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond and a $15,000 bond, respectively.
