Five-time Grammy Award-winning artist Buddy Guy will play the blues at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Tickets for the public range from $30 to $50, depending on the location of the seats. Student tickets are $15.
About 500 tickets remain, according to the Phillips Center Box Office.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office, through Ticketmaster or by visiting the University Box Office at the Reitz Union. Students cannot get their discount through Ticketmaster.
Guy performed at the Phillips Center in 2006. Having him perform again is a part of the Phillips Center’s 20th anniversary season, said Todd Taylor, a spokesman for UF Performing Arts.
Guy will perform material from his latest album, “Living Proof.”
There will be a pre-performance discussion with David Edmund, a visiting assistant professor in UF’s School of Music, at 6:45 p.m. in the center’s Fackler Foyer West.
Cracker the Box, a blues and folk group, will open for Guy. The group will feature 16-year-old Anthony Kavouklis.
Kavouklis was invited on stage to play guitar with Guy at his 2006 Phillips Center performance.
“Buddy Guy is as big as they get in the blues genre,” Taylor said. “And by all accounts, he puts on a great show.”
