On Thursday, former Florida standout Marquis Dendy became the first Gator in program history to win The Bowerman, a trophy awarded annually to the nation’s top collegiate track and field athlete.
Dendy became just the third jumper to earn the award in the seven-year history of The Bowerman.
The Middletown, Delaware, native won seven NCAA Championships in four years at UF, including four titles last season.
In his last year at Florida, Dendy became just the third athlete in NCAA history to sweep the triple jump and long jump in three straight NCAA Championships.
A 13-time USTFCCCA All-American, Dendy was also named the 2015 USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor National Field Athlete of the Year, the first UF male athlete to win the award since Kerron Clement in 2005.
