The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at UF, originally scheduled to be outside for the first time, has to move back indoors.

Due to a 60 percent chance of rain, instead of running laps around Flavet Field on Friday, 94 Relay for Life teams will gather in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The event will start at 6 p.m. and will continue into Saturday morning.

Amanda Granozio, associate director at Gainesville’s American Cancer Society office, said she was upset they had to move the event inside because of the rain, but she is excited about the goal to raise $125,000.

Granozio said she didn’t want the teams and survivors to huddle together in the rain instead of enjoying the event.

“The weather isn’t cooperating,” she said.

Stephanie Eisenberger, UF Relay for Life event co-chairwoman, said 16 more teams are participating this year.
