Florida bats stay hot in win against Auburn

After two games at Auburn, Florida has 16 runs, 22 hits and two wins.

The Gators (40-15, 18-11 Southeastern Conference) clinched their weekend series against the Tigers (29-26, 12-17 SEC) with a 10-1 victory Friday.

Vickash Ramjit built on a solid 1-for-3 game with one RBI against Auburn on Thursday with a big blast in the top of the first inning Friday. With two outs and runners on first and second, Ramjit sent the first pitch he saw over the right-field fence to extend Florida's early lead to four runs.

UF put up two three-spots after the first in the third and sixth innings. The third inning runs came on a solo home run from Mike Zunino, his third in the last four games. A Josh Tobias RBI single and a run scored by Ramjit on a Jordan Schafer double play capped Florida's offense for the frame.

In the sixth, the Gators added three more. After Schafer scored on a wild pitch, Preston Tucker from brought Nolan Fontana home from second by launching the first pitch he saw to right-center field.

Florida's bats were done for the night after scoring 10 runs, but the effort was more than enough for starter Brian Johnson. Following a three-hit, complete game shutout from Hudson Randall on Thursday, Johnson, too, lowered his ERA.

The southpaw threw seven innings and allowed only two hits and one unearned run. Daniel Gibson and Ryan Harris each tossed a perfect frame in relief, keeping the Tigers' offense at bay.
