Study Edge gets mobile, tablet app to reach out to students

Local tutoring service Study Edge is offering a new way for customers to access study materials. Study Edge has finalized its iPhone, iPad and Android apps, which have been in development since August.

Anne Grundhoefer, director of marketing and technology and development, said Study Edge waited to release the app until it had no apparent glitches.

“It has been a process getting everything finalized, but we wanted to make sure everything was perfect for finals,” Grundhoefer said.

Students can currently access Study Edge materials on Facebook, as well as download study packets, and purchase memberships and tokens for viewing videos.

“Everyone knows how to use Facebook and can access everything 24/7, which is the beauty of it,” Grundhoefer said. “Now you can do everything from your iPhone that you can do on your Facebook.”

Laura Gutsche, a 20-year-old public relations junior, said the app would make using Study Edge more convenient.

“So many times I forget what times reviews are or I want to watch a video again, so it will be helpful to be able to do all that on my phone,” Gutsche said.

Food science and human nutrition junior Mallory Neumann, 20, said she loves the idea of mobile access to study materials but thinks Study Edge needs to move in another direction as well.

“I don’t like the fact there is not an alternative option in case Facebook goes down,” Neumann said. “What happens when Facebook is under maintenance and you need to study?”
