Florida graduate student point guard Zyon Pullin was hit with a three-game suspension for the 2023-24 Gators basketball season due to his participation in the Portsmouth Invitational.
The PIT, a pre-draft camp tailored exclusively for college seniors, found Pullin in violation of NCAA regulations due to his participation in the tournament during the offseason, according to Jon Rothstein. This breach occurred because NCAA rules prohibit players from taking part in such tournaments and subsequently returning to their college teams.
The point guard will miss the season-opener against Loyola Maryland Nov. 6. The following two games begin the Hall of Fame Series against Virginia Nov. 10 and Florida A&M Nov. 14.
Pullin transferred from California Riverside where he averaged 18.3 points, 4.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game last season. He had 12 games with more than 20 points and started in all 29 games.
He scored 1,312 points in 109 games with an overall 77 starts in his four seasons at UC Riverside. He posted four double-doubles and was named a three-time All-Big West honoree.
The Gators will kick off the 2023-24 basketball season in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on Nov. 6 against Loyola Maryland. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
