The Gators head to Louisville, Kentucky Saturday to face the Cardinals in their first game of the season.
This is the first meeting between Florida and Louisville in program history.
UF has not faced an opponent since March when the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to NCAA sports. Florida’s 6-2 season is in the past with new beginnings on the horizon.
Louisville failed to rank inside the top 20 on Inside Lacrosse, Nike/US, and the IWLCA’s preseason polls.
The Cardinals ended their 2020 campaign with a 5-4 record. The senior-led team is seeking redemption in its home opener.
Caroline Blalock, Louisville senior midfielder, made IL’s Preseason All-American Honorable Mention. The four-year captain ranked sixth in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 20 ground balls last season.
Attacker Hannah Morris, who led the ACC in free positions, and attacker Ally Hall are the Cardinals leading scorers.
Leading the way for the Gators are captains Shannon Kavanagh, Brianna Harris, Cara Trombetta and Kaitlyn Dabkowski; who are Preseason All-AAC selections.
Kavanagh hopes to reach the 200-point mark as she currently has 198 career points.
Florida looks to carry the momentum of its final two wins of last season into this year.
The game is set to start at 11:30 a.m.
