I was happy to see the editorial about staying classy. I'm glad someone commented about some of the nasty things said between Miami and UF fans. My group of friends was a mix of Gators and Hurricanes fans.
Some guy in a car decided to insult my Miami friends by telling them to go back to a taco stand. I guess he didn't realize that some of us Gators were Latino as well.
He tried validating his remark by saying he was a Gators fan, but that wasn't the only racial comment I heard that day. I know there's a big rivalry. I'm a UF student that was raised in Miami - I should know. I also know there's a lot of trash talk, especially when alcohol's involved, but when you go beyond the teams and insult people on their race or ethnicity, then it's gone too far.
