The Artisan Guild Gallery is hosting “Fresh from Florida — Harvest of Art” this month to showcase artwork from more than 50 local artists.
The Artisan Guild Gallery is a co-op store in downtown Gainesville composed of work by local artists.
Each month, the guild creates a theme and artists display their work according to the theme.
“We are happy to have people come and see our new work,” said Ann Lindell, a local artist.
Lindell said these events display the talent of local artists because only artists from Gainesville or surrounding areas can be members of the guild.
“I think it gives people an outlet to sell their work,” she said, “as well as to engage with other artists and to show the community things that were made here.”
Peter Senesac, a local artist who joined the Artisan Guild Gallery in 1980, said he has been making jewelry and painting since 1978.
Senesac currently has a painting series about forest life and sea life on display.
“A lot of people are impressed that there are that many talented artists in Gainesville and the greater Gainesville area,” Senesac said. “It is an extensive art community here in Gainesville.”

Nancy Gildersleeve, 76, the artist on duty at the Artisan's Guild Gallery, works at the artist's co-op Wednesday afternoon. Its current theme is "Fresh From Florida," in which each artist in the gallery has a piece that encapsulates the Florida theme.
