In celebration of the 90th annual Gator Growl and Homecoming, the theme for 2013 has been announced as Footprints of the Swamp.

Growl Executive Producer Megan Harmon wrote in an email that the theme was chosen last week and has been in the brainstorming process since December.

“Because this is the 90th year of Gator Growl and Homecoming, we really wanted to make the theme not only about the present Gator Nation but also incorporating the past and future,” the 22-year-old industrial and systems engineering senior wrote in an email.

Harmon said there would be a couple of changes for the upcoming Growl and Homecoming, including different venues for events.

“I’m hoping to have a little something in the show for every generation that has come through this university,” she wrote.

Evan Galin, director of public relations for UF Homecoming, said she was happy with the theme choice.

“Nothing is going to be a huge change,” the 21-year-old public relations junior said, “but we’re really going to hone in on The Gator Nation in general and how cool it is be a part of this long standing tradition.”

Beginning Veterans Day weekend, the Footprints of the Swamp Growl will be on Nov. 8, and the Homecoming football game against Vanderbilt will be on Nov. 9.
