If you ask my friends, they'll be the first to tell you that I'm definitely not a politically active person. My knowledge of the presidential candidates is shallower than a kiddie pool, but with the shambles our nation is in, I thought it would behoove me to catch Friday night's debates. After all, what better way to learn about our potential future presidents than watching them civilly duke it out on national television?
I'm not here to tell you who to vote for, and I'm not letting my political opinions haze my judgment, but I have to say, Sen. McCain, that you were a big fashion mess.
I know what was said is far more important than what was worn, but I couldn't help but judge both nominees on their suits. Stylists exist for a reason, and McCain really needs to fire his - if he has one at all. McCain's outfit on Friday night was precisely what men should not wear.
A navy suit is acceptable, but one that is at least two sizes too big for you is not. Every time McCain used his hands to speak, I was distracted by the rivers of fabric hanging from his arms. The jacket was just way too big, and you could see it whenever he moved. It was distracting.
Also, his pale blue shirt and that red, maroon and white striped tie clashed completely, washed him out and made him look incredibly old. If you're going to wear a bold tie like that, pair it with a white shirt. Since there's white in the tie, it'll match enough and not make a mixed up color palette on your body.
Boys, learn two lessons from McCain's mistake: Make sure your clothes fit before you wear them. There is nothing worse than looking like you're wearing something out of your dad's closet. And if you're going to wear a tie, match it to the suit somehow, or else the girl you're with or the people you're trying to impress will definitely disapprove.
