Adult film actor Ron Jeremy will be in Gainesville today to promote a new spiced rum that bears his name - Ron de Jeremy - and to hear any suggestions for a slogan.
His take?
"Any other rum doesn't have a third leg to stand on," he said.
Jeremy will appear to sign bottles of the new spiced rum at University Liquors at 105 SW 34th St. from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and at Gator Beverage at 1126 W University Ave. from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Jeremy, whose first name is the Spanish word for rum, isn't much of a drinker, but he said he loves the thrill of endorsing a product and seeing it succeed.
Besides, he said, he was the only famous Ron available.
"Ron Reagan died, Ron Howard's making movies, and I'll do anything," he said.
Jeremy said he's interested to see if anyone can come up with a catchy slogan for the rum. He also encouraged students to be careful.
"Drink responsibly," he said. "If you've got homework to do, do not drink my rum. You want to drink when you got recreational time."
