A former UF resident assistant arrested for battery and false imprisonment last year is scheduled to have a case management hearing August 3.
Ian Milaski was arrested August 2019 after a female student told police he tried to sexually assault her. He was released from Alachua County Jail in September after a judge reduced his $125,000 bond because he was a “high achieving” student leader.
In a hearing Monday, Bennett Hutson, one of Milaski’s attorneys, said both parties are still conducting discovery, a pre-trial process when each party gathers the evidence needed for trial.
Judge William Davis said the case will be held until the courts receive further guidance from the Florida Supreme Court on how to conduct trials during the COVID-19 pandemic. Davis said only some sworn testimonies can be held remotely.
Milaski also received an additional charge, attempted sexual battery on an adult without force, in September, according to court records.
