For the second-annual Florida Loves Israel conference, UF Hillel has partnered with Accent Speaker’s Bureau to bring Carl Bernstein to campus.

The Pulitzer Prize winner known for covering the Watergate scandal in the ‘70s will speak at Hillel on Saturday.

The three-day conference is from Friday to Sunday, said Joshua Kahn, Jewish Agency Israel fellow to UF Hillel. Tickets for the conference are $25 for UF students. the Bernstein event is free and open to the public. Bernstein will talk about American politics and its effect on Israel and journalism.

Accent is paying Bernstein $15,000 to come to Hillel, Accent chairman Josh Holtzman said.

Tickets can be picked up at Hillel from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Friday and then up until the event on Saturday. Bernstein will speak at 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Holtzman said Bernstein was chosen to speak because of his present voice in Israel.

“Carl Bernstein is one of the great journalists of our time,” said the 22-year-old history and political science senior, “but he is less known to the general public for his work done in Israel.”
