UF confirmed four of its students had their visas revoked, according to an official statement from UF spokesperson Cynthia Roldan.
Roldan did not give any other information about the students or their future at the university, which she is not at liberty to provide under FERPA student privacy protections.
UF is one of dozens of universities who have seen a wave of international students’ visas revoked by the federal government. As of Thursday, over 600 students have had their visas revoked, according to Inside Higher Ed.
The Trump administration said it would identify international students and deport them for taking part in protests against the war in Gaza.
The reasons behind the UF students' visa revocations are still unclear.
According to the Washington Post, about a dozen international students have been detained by ICE across the country. Affected colleges weren’t notified of the change in their student’s visas, and the administration has not offered an explanation as to why or how many students have been detained.
