A Gainesville man was arrested on Thursday for sharing child pornography and charged with two felonies.

Raymond Logan, 47, was arrested as the result of an investigation started in August. The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip from the social media site Tumblr that an unknown user had uploaded 17 files of child pornography.

The files contained child sexual abuse images of multiple girls who appeared to be between ages 10 and 17, according to the arrest report.

The IP address of the unknown user was provided by Tumblr, and it was linked to two other tips submitted to NCMEC in August.

The two tips were connected to accounts on Tumblr and X, according to the arrest report. Four photos depicting the sexual abuse of children had been uploaded on each account, showing images of multiple girls who appeared to be between the ages of 12 and 16.

In September, investigators discovered the IP address was registered to Logan and submitted a warrant to search his property. On Thursday, the warrant was executed and read to Logan and his wife.

According to the arrest report, Logan told his wife the case was “not as bad as it sounds.”

Logan told investigators he understood why he was being arrested, and explained how he started sharing child sexual abuse images, according to the arrest report.

He originally started sharing pornography of adult women on Tumblr until he came across a sexual image of a 15- to 16-year-old girl. According to the arrest report, Logan told investigators he became fixated on the image and started down a “rabbit hole” of finding and sharing other sexually explicit images of children.

Logan then started using Teleguard, a messaging app allowing users to send messages anonymously, to continue receiving and sending sexually abusive images of teenage girls, according to the arrest report. Logan told police he used fake email addresses to make multiple other Tumblr accounts after his original was deleted.

Investigators linked the email and phone number Logan provided to another tip reporting the upload of a child sexual abuse image on X in February 2024. The child appeared to be only 10 to 12 years old.

Logan was charged with two felonies following Thursday’s search: using a communication device to commit a felony and the digital transmission of child pornography.
