A car lies on its side after colliding with another car and flipping outside Wild Pie on NW 13th Street on Feb. 6, 2025 in Gainesville, Fla.

Gainesville Police Department and Gainesville Fire Rescue responded to a car accident in front of Wild Pie on Thursday afternoon, which left one SUV flipped on its side. Wild Pie sits across the street from a Krispy Kreme near UF’s campus.

The accident didn’t cause any injuries, according to Officer Jeff Bailey.

The driver of the overturned Subaru Forester said he was making a left turn from NW 3rd Ave onto NW 13th Street when he collided with the other SUV. Another car making a turn onto the adjacent street blocked his view of the oncoming SUV, he said.

Wild Pie, a pizza restaurant, sits near multiple student apartment complexes.

Lonnie Paul Griffin Jr., a 25-year-old unhoused individual originally from Seminole County, pulled the driver of the overturned car out of the back passenger window after seeing the crash from down the street.

“It kind of felt like Batman,” he said.

By around 1:30 p.m., both SUVs were towed away and regular traffic resumed.
