After a pair of strong performances in wins over No. 1 Auburn on Saturday and Vanderbilt on Tuesday, the SEC named Florida sophomore forward Alex Condon Player of the Week. He is the third frontcourt player in UF history (Joakim Noah and Colin Castleton) to win the award twice in one season, earning the honor in early January after his 12-point performance against then-No. 1 Tennessee.

The 6-foot-11 Australian guided the Gators through “The Jungle” over the weekend, scoring 17 points on 70% from the field. Now-No. 3 UF defeated the Tigers 90-81 while he added 10 rebounds.

Earlier in the week, Condon put up a similar, impressive statline of 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, along with nine rebounds. The Gators beat Vandy 86-75 despite star senior guard Walter Clayton Jr.’s absence.

Condon is averaging 11 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in his second season at UF, becoming a staple of Florida’s starting frontcourt. He’s improved in nearly every statistical category from his freshman year in Gainesville.

The All-SEC contender will next be in action when Florida faces No. 22 Mississippi State on Tuesday, looking for its third ranked win this season as the NCAA Tournament approaches. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. in Starkville.
