Gunshot fired at Sorority Row, no injuries reported

The incident was reported at 11:15 a.m, on Thursday

On Thursday at around 11:15 a.m., a resident of Sorority Row informed the UF Police Department of a gunshot that had been fired through a closed window, hitting the indoor window shutters. The resident reported that the incident had just occurred, prompting the university to issue its first alert to students and faculty at 11:23 a.m.

According to a university-wide email sent by the UF Police Department, officers searched the area for any potential threats and interviewed possible witnesses at the scene. While witnesses said they had not heard gunfire, some reported hearing a “pop” between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Thursday.

After surveying the scene and conducting a thorough search, officers concluded that there was a time delay between the shooting and its discovery. No injuries were reported, and the UF Police Department has confirmed that it is safe to resume normal activities. However, the investigation remains ongoing, and UFPD has increased patrols in the area in response to this incident.
