Florida women’s tennis continued its Fall slate by sending two competitors to the UNF Fall Invite. The University of North Florida-hosted event lasted three days, with UF freshmen Noemie Oliveras and Nikola Daubnerova competing in four matches.
Daubnerova was the more successful of the UF pair, winning her first two matches in the tournament en route to her bracket’s final. The freshman defeated Virginia Tech freshman Mila Mulready 6-1, 6-3, and UNF junior Laurie Barendse 6-4, 7-5. Daubnerova’s stint in Jacksonville ended on Sunday with a loss to Florida State freshman Mary Boyce Deatherage 7-6, 1-6, 6-3.
UF’s other competitor, Oliveras, didn’t spend much time in the 10-team tournament’s bracket. She dropped her first-round matchup with Florida State junior Tina Li 7-6, 6-0.
Florida will next compete in two tournaments this week. Senior Rachel Gailis will compete in singles at the W15 Lincoln from Nov. 4-8 in Lincoln, Nebraska. UF senior Alicia Dudeney is listed as an alternate.
The Gators will also head to Rome, Georgia, for the ITA Conference Masters Championship from Nov. 7-10. Florida's newly hired head coach, Per Nilsson, will debut at the Georgia event.
