UF Alerts an off campus shooting near Murphree Hall

No perpetrators have been publicly identified at this time

The UF Police Department issued an emergency alert early Sunday morning after a suspect involved in an off-campus shooting fled onto campus near Murphree Hall.

UFPD officers worked alongside the Gainesville Police Department to secure the area and search for the suspects.

One woman was injured in the abdomen following the incident. She was brought to a local hospital in critical condition.

One suspect, armed with a handgun, was swiftly detained near the Student Recreation and Fitness Center at 114 Fletcher Drive. GPD detained the other two suspects off campus shortly afterward.

UFPD lifted the emergency alert at 4:17 a.m., and campus operations resumed as normal.

This is a developing story, and no further information on the perpetrators has been released at this time.
