Gainesville woman arrested after aggravated assault on brother

The brother did not sustain any significant injury from the incident

Gainesville Police Department officers responded to reports of domestic aggravated assault Friday involving two siblings.

Jehan Daniels, 31, and her brother have been living together since Aug. 23.

The incident Friday occurred inside the brother’s bedroom, where an argument reportedly escalated over the use of his phone.

During the altercation, Daniels reportedly exited the room, grabbed a kitchen knife and re-entered her brother’s bedroom. She approached her brother, who was lying in bed, and threatened to stab him. Then, Daniels kneeled on the bed, still armed with the knife, prompting the victim to act in self-defense, the arrest report said.

The brother managed to disarm Daniels by restraining her arm and applying pressure to her shoulder until she dropped the knife, according to the arrest report.

Daniels subsequently left the bedroom.

The brother, fearing for his life during the incident, later provided law enforcement with video evidence showing Daniels dual-wielding two knives — both with blue handles and rainbow blades — and threatening him not to put his hands on her.

While being interviewed by law enforcement, Daniels admitted, "Those are the knives I threatened him with," and directed officers to the two knives on the kitchen counter. She declined further communication, invoking her right to remain silent.

The brother did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
