Florida’s first home SEC match of the season against Tennessee, previously scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m., has been postponed.

The decision came after the University of Florida closed campus and canceled classes from 12:01 a.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday.

Alachua County mayor, Harvey Ward declared a local state of emergency due to Hurricane Helene. The hurricane is expected to impact Gainesville Thursday.

The Gators were looking to bounce back after suffering their first SEC loss to No. 6 Auburn Sunday.

Florida’s match against the Volunteers Wednesday would have marked its third SEC match and given the Gators a crucial chance to regain footing.

UF head coach Samantha Bohon’s squad will have to wait for further updates regarding a rescheduled date for the matchup against Tennessee.

Florida will continue SEC play in a Sunday road match against Missouri at 6 p.m.
