Santa Fe College said issues with disbursing financial aid is caused by current “nationwide issues with federal systems that process financial aid,” according to a Thursday news release.
In March, the U.S. Department of Education announced it had made about 200,000 calculation errors on completed FAFSA forms, delaying financial aid disbursement.
On July 30, the department said colleges will have the option to submit “batch corrections” for the 2025-26 FAFSA cycle.
Another factor for the delay stems from SF “integrating new systems” to improve its financial aid process due to changes in federal government regulations, according to the press release.
SF has extended its financial aid book charging period and is working with local apartments and rental agencies. Pell grants, federal loans, state and institutional aid are affected, according to the press release.
The college offers resources for emergencies on its website.
