The Gators look to be without two of their top players for an extended period of time. Within the last five days, both sophomore wide receiver Eugene Wilson III and graduate defensive lineman Joey Slackman have undergone surgery to repair a pair of respective knee injuries, per 247Sports.

Wilson III previously sustained a lower-body injury in Florida’s 45-7 win over Samford on Sept. 7. While the exact nature of his injury has remained unclear since he was listed on last week’s injury report, Wilson III is now slated to miss his second week of action in a row. No updates or timetables have been given as to when Florida’s top receiver will return to the field.

As for Slackman, the highly touted graduate transfer reportedly underwent arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus following Florida’s matchup with Texas A&M this past weekend. Slackman previously missed Florida’s week two contest against Samford before returning to the field against the Aggies. He has now been listed as out for the Gators’ upcoming contest against Mississippi State.

Like Wilson III, there is currently no timetable for Slackman’s return to the field. Nevertheless, all signs point towards the graduate defensive lineman missing a potentially significant amount of time.
