Mori Hosseini, chair of Board of Trustees, initiates the interview of Ben Sasse on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022.

Three days after UF President Ben Sasse abruptly resigned, the university’s board of trustees quietly scheduled a meeting for Tuesday.

No details were included in the meeting’s agenda, but the board is expected to name an interim president before Sasse steps down July 31.

Sasse’s predecessor, Kent Fuchs, is expected to be tapped for the role.

Sasse announced his resignation late Thursday night, citing his wife’s recent epilepsy diagnosis and newly developed memory problems.

UF trustees held an emergency meeting 6:30 p.m. Thursday, less than two hours before Sasse announced his resignation. UF spokesperson Cynthia Roldan said board members were notified of the meeting Wednesday night. The meeting’s agenda, which doesn’t provide any details as to why the meeting was called, was also uploaded to the board’s website Wednesday night, according to Roldan.

Roldan told The Alligator Friday that minutes would be posted “soon,” but they haven’t been made publicly available as of Monday.
