The UF men’s tennis program announced associate head coach Mat Cloer is stepping down from his position after two seasons, Friday afternoon.
"Gainesville and the University of Florida will always hold a special place in my and my family's heart," Cloer said. "I especially want to thank Coach Steinberg and Coach Shelton for the opportunity to be a part of such a special program. I am so excited about the future of Gator Men's Tennis."
After being brought in by former Gators head coach Bryan Shelton in 2022, Cloer helped the team to a 27-26 record and coached five players to All-SEC Team selections.
“Mat is an excellent tennis coach and an even better human being,” Gators head coach Adam Steinberg said. He will be greatly missed, and on behalf of Gator Nation, we wish him and his family the best in his new endeavor with the USTA.”
Cloer will return to the United States Tennis Association’s Player Development program, where he worked as a national coach in April 2017.
