Former UF physician Ahmad Abdul-Rahim resigned from the UF College of Medicine following an accusation of sexual misconduct. He is petitioning the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court to seal his prior charges.
On March 22, 2022, the 34-year-old was accused of sexual misconduct by an unnamed assistant. She told a UF investigator he made sexual jokes, touched her on the thigh and groin and said “I’m sorry, I can’t think about anything besides f*****g you right now; all the blood from my head has gone to my penis. You can look if you want,” according to the university’s 46-page investigation report.
Abdul-Rahim later met with witnesses, who, according to the investigation, said Abdul-Rahim repeated the phrase, “What have I done? I have ruined my career and wasted my training. I have acted in a way a married man should not act.”
A witness in the investigation said Abdul-Rahim had been inappropriate to another coworker and previously had sex with a third coworker.
On March 23, 2022, Abdul-Rahim was placed on administrative leave and later resigned May 17 of the same year. The report did not indicate whether his temporary leave was paid.
His wife reached out to the assistant who filed the complaint via phone and email, and she declined to speak with her.
The UF Police Department arrested Abdul-Rahim March 23, 2022, and he was charged with first-degree misdemeanor battery.
Judge Thomas Jaworski ordered Abdul-Rahim to attend mental health counseling and perform 15 hours of community service as part of his 12-month probation, according to court records.
Abdul-Rahim’s license to practice is valid through March 2026, and he currently works as a registered physician in Panama City.
The assistant filed a UF public records request to obtain case documents April 3, and Abdul-Rahim filed to seal the case through the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court April 16. If the seal goes through with the court, the records will no longer be available to the public.
