The Gators continued their momentum into the second home meet of the 2024 Outdoor season. Senior Grace Stark followed her last olympic-qualifying home performance with a new personal best in the women’s 100 meter hurdles. Stark’s time of 12.56 seconds is the new No.1 mark in the NCAA for 2024.
Senior Robert Gregory placed fourth in the men’s 200 meter invitational with a time of 20.29 seconds.
Fourth place in the men’s 400 meter invitational was secured by Florida senior JeVaughn Powell with a time of 45.21seconds. A season best time of 1:47.42 was recorded by junior Sam Austin in the men’s 800 meter.
Sophomore Eoin McNally earned a personal best in the men’s 1500 meter with a time of 3:47.88. Fellow sophomore Joe Wester placed seventh with a time of 3:44.85.
The Florida A relay team won the men’s 4x400 relay with a season best time of 3:01.20. The team was made up of senior Reheem Hayles, sophomore Wanya McCoy, senior JeVaughn Powell and senior Jenoah McKiver.
Florida’s field athletes continued to impress this weekend. Sophomore Imani Washington notched a personal best and placed third in the women’s hammer throw with a distance of 57.43 meters.
Senior Claire Bryant finished as the top collegian in the women’s long jump with her third jump of 6.65 meters. Fellow Gator Anthya Charlton finished in second place among collegiate competition with a season best jump of 6.60 meters.
Junior Malcolm Clemons finished second among collegians with his sixth jump of 7.72 meters.
In the men’s javelin throw, senior Abraham Sargent earned a new personal record with his throw of 73.79 meters.
Senior Gracelyn Leiseth won the women’s discus throw with a throw of 51.93 meters. Sophomore Da’Moni Kelly placed fifth with a throw of 49.42 meters. Sophomore Logan Montgomery threw for 48.10 meters and placed eighth in the men’s discus throw. Montgomery also placed second in the men’s shot put with a throw of 17.22 meters.
Senior Kai Chang placed fourth in the men’s discus throw invitational with a distance of 59.88 meters. In the men’s hammer throw invitational, senior Will Gross IV placed second with a throw of 66.35 meters.
Sophomore Alida Van Daalen won the women’s discus throw invitational with a personal best throw of 62.58 meters. Freshman India Alix jumped a wind-assisted personal best of 12.63 meters in the women’s triple jump.
Six Gator distance runners also traveled to Azusa Pacific University to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational. While in California, senior Parker Valby shattered the 10,000 meter collegiate record of 14 years with her time of 30:50.43. Valby became the 13th woman in American history to run a sub-31 minute 10,000 meter. Her time is currently No.1 in the NCAA (All-Time and 2024) and No. 5 in the world.
Also in the women’s 10,000 meter, junior Allison Wilson earned a personal best time of 33:34.95 and landed herself at No. 5 on the women’s 10,000 meter UF Top Ten All-Time List.
Senior Elise Thorner set a new school record in the women’s 3000 meter steeplechase with her time of 9:28.49. This mark broke a 12 year old UF record and currently sits as the No. 1 time in the NCAA for 2024.
Next, the Gators next head to California for the Mt. San Antonio Relays April 17-20.
