A longtime top UF official is leaving to work for a private Christian university in Texas.
Curtis Reynolds, UF’s vice president of business affairs, announced his resignation in a news release Wednesday morning. His departure comes after a series of shakeups in top level leadership at the university since President Ben Sasse took office in February.
Reynolds, who joined UF in 2010, oversaw multiple university-wide functions including business services, public and environmental safety, construction and building maintenance. David Kratzer, UF’s senior vice president for construction, facilities and auxiliary operations, will continue to manage those functions, UF spokesman Steve Orlando wrote in an email.
“I have cherished my time at the University of Florida and will continue to support Gator Nation from afar,” Reynolds wrote. “I look forward to seeing the remarkable things the university will continue to accomplish.”
Reynolds is leaving UF on Feb. 29 to work for Baylor University, a private Christian research university in Waco, Texas. He starts as the university’s new chief financial officer and vice president for business and finance on March 1.
Baylor University declined to disclose Reynolds’ starting salary for the position.
"We are tremendously grateful for Curtis' commitment and service to Gator Nation,” UF President Ben Sasse wrote. “Curtis brought his talents to UF during a time of unprecedented growth and, although it’s bittersweet, we’re excited about the opportunity he has at Baylor.”
Reynolds was previously the vice provost for administration at Miami Dade College, where he was responsible for central business affairs on eight campuses with more than 165,000 students throughout Miami-Dade County. At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he was the executive director for administration.
Reynolds earned a master’s in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a master’s in business administration from the University of Alabama. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the U.S. Green Building Council.
