The Gators will be without transfer forward EJ Jarvis for the 2023-2024 regular season after he announced on Instagram that he would be stepping away from the game of basketball.
The graduate student forward played three seasons at Yale before transferring to Florida this past offseason.
“At this point in my career, I feel it would be best to pursue other opportunities in life,” Jarvis wrote in his Instagram post. “With that being said, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the game of basketball.”
Jarvis appeared in 29 games last season for Yale and started in 21. He averaged 11.4 points, 5.5 rebounds per game and shot 41% from the three-point line.
“I would like to emphasize how understanding and supportive Coach [Todd] Golden, the coaching staff, and my teammates at the University of Florida have been,” he wrote. “I am genuinely thankful for all the relationships I have made while at Florida.”
The Gators frontcourt still includes graduate student forward Tyrese Samuel, sophomores center Micah Handlogten and forward Aleks Szymczyk and freshmen forwards Thomas Haugh and Alex Condon.
