Gators sophomore setter Alexis Stucky will miss the rest of the 2023 volleyball season after she suffered a season-ending ACL and MCL tear.
Stucky suffered the knee injury in the second set of the Gators’ 3-2 defeat against No. 1 Wisconsin Sunday.
“Absolutely devastated to share that I have suffered a seasonending ACL and MCL tear. So heartbroken that I won’t get another chance to play with this group,” Stucky said in a written statement. “ The love this team and staff has for each other is incredible and I’m so lucky to be a Florida Gator! Words cannot express how much I adore this program.”
The sophomore setter collected a plethora of awards her first season in Gainesville. She was named the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year, an American Volleyball Coaches Association Third-Team All-American and was the AVCA Southeast Freshman of the year.
She compiled 30 kills, 74 digs and 339 assists this season.
“I really feel the love from the volleyball community. I’m still betting on my Gators and excited to show the world what we’re made of,” she added.
The Gators will begin SEC play on the road against the No. 24 Auburn Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The match can be streamed on SEC Network+.
