Florida International University transfer junior offensive lineman Lyndell Hudson Jr. announced his commitment to the Florida Gators football program on Twitter Saturday.
The announcement came on the same day that Hudson was on an official visit to UF’s campus. He was previously committed to the University of South Florida before his visit.
The 6-foot-6-inch tackle mulled over offers from Houston, Kent State, Norfolk, Old Dominion, Temple, Charlotte, University of Alabama-Birmingham and Bethune Cookman before making the decision to join Florida head coach Billy Napier and offensive coordinator Rob Sale next season.
Hudson was a three-year starter after being redshirted in his first season with the Panthers in 2018.
At 300 pounds, Hudson — a rising sixth-year senior — logged 1,564 offensive snaps during his career at FIU, posted a single-season career-high run-blocking grade of 82.3 in 2020 and gave up zero sacks 2022.
He joins a Florida offensive line group that lost four starters in the offseason to the transfer portal and the 2023 National Football League Draft — including 2022 All-American and Buffalo Bills draftee O’Cyrus Torrence.
Hudson is the fourth offensive lineman the Gators have added to their roster for the 2023 season. This includes former Baylor guard Micah Mazzccua, former Alabama tackle Damieon George Jr. and former Kentucky tackle Kiyaunta Goodwin.
