Lake Alice spans approximately 129.5 acres on UF campus.

The University Police Department found a dead body near the Lake Alice boat ramp Sunday afternoon.

UPD was alerted at 1:30 p.m. of a body located at 2600 Memorial Road, on the wooded portion of Lake Alice’s conservation area. EMS confirmed the person was dead soon after, according to a release.

The victim is not affiliated with UF, and no foul play is suspected as of Sunday afternoon.

The discovery doesn’t pose a threat to the UF community, Capt. Latrell Simmons said.

“I can safely say that there is no danger to campus as a result of this incident,” Simmons said.

While the person has been identified, Simmons said UPD is waiting to make contact with the family before releasing further information.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
