Men’s and women’s swimming advanced to 3-1 and 4-1 after a successful Saturday in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. 

In the women’s 1-meter event, senior Maha Amer’s score of 350.55 dive broke the 2016 school record of 346.10 set by graduate assistant dive coach Kahlia Warner. 

Junior Skip Donald won the men’s 1-meter diving with 349.12 points, followed by junior Anton Svirskyi in second place (334.95). The women took spots 1-3 in the 1-meter: Maha Amer in first (350.55), sophomore Elettra Neroni in second (292.05) and sophomore Carina Lumia in third (289.43). 

Sophomore Ellettra Neroni (339.98) and sophomore Carina Lumia (312.75) filled first and second place in the women’s 3-meter dive. 

The women’s 200-medley relay team, senior Katie Mack, grad student Nina Kucheran, Senior Talia Bates, and Sophomore Ekaterina Nikonova, won the event at 1:39.32. The B team came in third, with sophomore Aris Runnels, senior Tylor Mathieu, junior Amanda Ray, and sophomore Micayla Cronk finishing at 1:41.53. 

Sophomore Adam Chaney, freshman Aleksas Savickas, senior Eric Friese, and freshman Joshua Liendo came second in the men’s 200-medley relay (1:26:61).

The Gators shined in the 1000-freestyle. Sophomore Anna Auld finished first at 9:45.17, followed by freshman Hayden Miller in second (9:47.95). Senior Alfonso Mestre came first in the men’s 1000-freestyle event (9:04.9), with freshman Eric Brown (9:06.17) in second and senior Brennen Gravkey in third (9:08.94). 

Sophomore Macguire McDuff won the men’s 200-freestyle (1:36.61), and junior Jake Mitchell came in at a close second (1:36.74). Nikonova won the women’s 200-freestyle with a time of 1:45.75, and sophomore Micayla Cronk finished second at 1:47.07. 

Adam Chaney came first in the men’s 100-backstroke at 47.50. Talia Bates (53.97) and Aris Runnels (54.66) took first and third in the women’s 100-backstroke. 

The Gators swept the 200-butterfly. Amanda Ray won the women’s event (1:57.73), and sophomore Joaquin Gonzalez Pinero won the men’s (1:46.11). Sophomore Mason Laur finished second in the men’s event (1:46.31), with a tie for third between UF senior Kevin Vargas and UTK freshman Martin Espernberger (1:47.85). Freshman Zoe Dixon (1:59.32), junior Mabel Zavaros (2:00.18), and senior Allison Piccirillo (2:00.74) filled spots 2-4.

Bates claimed another first-place finish in the women’s 50-freestyle at 22.82, with Katie Mack right behind her in second (22.86). Joshua Liendo won the men’s 50-freestyle at 19.34, and Alberto Mestre came third at 19.58. 

UF witnessed the first three places in the women’s 100-freestyle; Ekaterina Nikonova came first (49.51), Katie Mack second (49.63), and Macayla Cronk third (49.94).

Hayden Miller won the women’s 500-freestyle at 4:45.49, followed by Anna Auld (4:49.09) and junior Elise Bauer (4:51.49) in second and third. Alfonso Mestre swam a winning time of 4:21.16 in the men’s 500-freestyle. 

Sophomore Olivia Peoples won the women’s 100-butterfly at 53.90, and Aris Runnels came second (54.62). 

Zoe Dixon won the women’s 200-IM at 2:00.05, and sophomore Julian Smith won the men’s event at 1:46.79. 

The UF men’s and women’s relay teams won the 400-freestyle relay events. Talia Bates, Micayla Cronk, Katie Mack, and Ekaterina Nikonova came first in the women’s event at 3:17.70, and Macguire McDuff, Joshua Liendo, Eric Friese, and Alberto Mestre won the men’s event at 2:52.49. 

The Gator's next competition is the Georgia Invite from Thursday, November 17, to Saturday, November 19, in Athens.
