High four-star quarterback recruit Jaden Rashada announced he’s flipping his commitment to Florida. The Pittsburg High School standout originally committed to Miami June 26.
“I have tremendous respect for Miami and what they are going to accomplish there,” Rashada said in his statement on Twitter, “but I have watched this season and Coach Napier and his team are building something very special in The Swamp and I want to be a part of it.”
Rashada is the No. 7 quarterback and No. 57 overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings. After his surprise flip to Florida, the California native is now the highest-ranked prospect in the Gators’ 2023 recruiting class.
Florida and Miami have battled for several high-profile recruits in this current cycle, including Rashada. The Hurricanes also landed a commitment from cornerback and No. 2 overall player Cormani McClain, a player experts viewed as a Florida lean.
Head coach Billy Napier’s first full recruiting class currently ranks No. 8 nationally and third in the SEC. The addition of Rashada is a huge boost for the Gators as they look to add the finishing touches to the 2023 class before early signing day Dec. 21.
Florida will play its final home game of the 2022 season Saturday against South Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. and the game will broadcast on SEC Network.
