A man is dead after a motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning, police said.
An SUV collided with a motorcycle and killed its driver, a 23-year-old man, at 6:31 a.m. at the intersection of Southwest Archer Road and Clark Butler Boulevard, Gainesville Police Department Chief Inspector Jamie Kurnick said. The motorcycle driver attempted to run a red light, Kurnick said, causing the crash. No arrest has been made as of Tuesday afternoon.
Kurnick said drivers should always be aware of their surroundings, especially when driving through intersections or changing lanes.
“If you’re going to, in any circumstances, navigate an intersection — it’s always check around and double-check,” she said. “Be very defensive.”
