Santa Fe College students and employees can get $60 for their COVID-19 vaccinations as of Jan. 28.
SF announced their second voluntary COVID-19 vaccine incentive, similar to the one in Fall 2021 that resulted in over 2,700 people getting vaccinated, according to the Santa Fe website.
Students and employees are able to collect this one-time payment if they received their second shot of Pfizer or Moderna, single shot of Johnson & Johnson or if they received a booster between Nov. 1 and March 20.
Beginning Feb. 7, students and employees can sign up for the incentive and have their vaccination or booster status verified in person.
These students and employees will also be eligible to collect additional rewards through a random drawing later this semester.
The college started hosting vaccination events on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Oak Grove and again on March 1 from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in Building S, Room 29.
In January, 134 people were vaccinated through the college’s two vaccination events on Jan. 6 and Jan. 13, SF spokesperson Jay Anderson said.
SF reported 139 positive COVID-19 cases from students and employees from Jan. 25 to Monday.
Fourteen employees and 125 students tested positive for the virus.
There were 30 fewer cases this week than last, said Lela Frye, SF human resources director.
The college’s total number of reported cases since March 2020 is now 1,780. This week’s case numbers make up 7% of the total cases at SF, Frye said.
SF requests all students and faculty continue to comply with its exposure policy by reporting symptoms and exposures and staying home when experiencing symptoms or after exposure when not vaccinated, Frye said.
As of Jan. 19, Santa Fe College acquired and distributed N95 masks to be used by faculty while teaching in-person classes at the college. While they are not required on campus, the college urges everyone to wear masks, practice physical distancing and get vaccinated to help slow the spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19.
