The unranked Florida Gators return to action once again after earning a golden goal victory over Kentucky on Thursday night at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
Florida owns two shutout wins this season, while visitors Mississippi State (2-3-3) looks to redeem itself after a 2-2 draw against the Georgia Bulldogs. Florida has dominated the matchup historically with a whopping 15-2-2 record.
The Bulldogs’ top goal scorers are their forwards, junior Onyi Echegini and senior Monigo Karnley, who have each recorded two goals this season. Senior midfielder Hannah Telleysh sits right behind them with a goal and an assist of her own.
Florida sophomore transfer Julianne Leskauskas will look to ride newfound momentum after scoring in overtime at the 91 minute mark against Kentucky, her first goal of the year.
Sunday’s match will most likely be a low-scoring affair as the Bulldogs carry a slight advantage in the goals per game category with .88 compared to Florida’s .70.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Goldberg will step between the sticks for the Gators on Sunday night, while Mississippi State will be defended by sophomore Maddy Anderson, who allows an average of 1.17 goals per game.
Goldberg leads the SEC with 5.35 saves a game after compiling six more saves on Thursday night.
Kickoff for the matchup between Florida and Miss. State is set for 7 p.m. in Starkeville and will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
