Florida caught fire on the recruiting trail as it landed a second commitment from a prospect on back-to-back days.
Three-star offensive tackle David Conner gave the Gators his verbal pledge Tuesday evening. Fellow three-star prospect and linebacker EJ Lightsey announced his commitment to Florida on Monday.
Conner committed to Florida over the likes of FAU, Maryland and Arizona. The Deerfield Beach, Florida, product climbed to be ranked as a three-star prospect, the 1,064th best player nationally and the 109th best player at his position, according to 247Sports.
The Gators and offensive line coach John Hevesy first offered Conner this summer. Hevesy and coach Dan Mullen look to expand their offensive line recruiting board quite a bit over the last two months after top targets like Tyler Booker, Qae’Shon Sapp, Addison Nichols, Drew Shelton and Leyton Nelson all gave their word to other schools.
Florida now has its second offensive line commit for this cycle. Four-star offensive tackle Tony Livingston announced his decision to play for the Gators in March.
UF rose from No. 30 to No. 24 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings after Lightsey’s commitment. However, it should steadily climb up the rankings further when it collects more recruits in its class.
